In Texas Holdem, the first step is to get the game started, and for this the competitors put out a certain amount of cash. ‘Posting the blinds’ is the frequently used expression for this play. In the next step, the dealer shuffles the cards and gives out two cards face down to all players. A normal deck of fifty two cards is used in the deal. Then there is the initial sequence of betting. This round is often referred to as a "pre-flop".

After the first betting round, the first card is tossed aside. This discarded card is known as the "burn card", and this is done to make sure that there is absolutely no corruption. The following 3 cards are then flipped face up on the poker table. These cards are referred to as ‘the flop’. Now comes a second sequence of betting, after that the dealer throws away an additional card and deals 1 more card onto the table. Following this, players can employ the 6th card to form a five-card poker hand.

Another sequence of betting happens, and in a good many types of poker, here is where the wager amount increases. There is another round of tossing aside a card, and a closing deal of a card face-up on the poker table. This is known as the "river". Bettors can now employ any of the 5 cards on the poker table, or the two cards that they are holding, to assemble a five-card poker hand.

To wrap it up there’s a further round of wagering. Then, all the players remaining start to show their hands. This is called the "showdown". Obviously, the competitor who has the greatest hand is the winner. When gamblers have even hands a splitting of the winnings is considered.

Texas Holdem is a very easy game to pick up, but to achieve knowledge it requires a fair amount of practice.
