Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player in the world by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to learn whatever he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the adverse feedback from other people annihilate his goal of being one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.

Phil began playing seriously after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win was not a normal thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an undying passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s learning every day and is very abashed about his success. He admits to making errors every single game of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
