Internet poker has become globally acclaimed lately, with televised events and celebrity poker game events. The games popularity, though, arcs back in fact a bit farther than its television scores. Over the years several variants on the original poker game have been created, including a handful of games that are not really poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of the above-mentioned games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely resembling chemin de fer than traditional poker, in that the players bet against the dealer instead of the other players. The winning hands, are the long-standing poker hands. There is little concealment or other types of deception. In Caribbean stud poker, you are required to ante up before the dealer saying "No further bets." At that moment, both you and the dealer and of course every one of the other gamblers receive five cards each. After you have looked at your hand and the casino’s initial card, you have to either make a call wager or bow out. The call bet’s value is on same level to your beginning bet, meaning that the stakes will have increased two fold. Giving Up means that your ante goes directly to the casino. After the wager is the showdown. If the casino does not have ace/king or greater, your bet is returned, with an amount on par with the original bet. If the dealer has a hand with ace/king or better, you win if your hand defeats the casino’s hand. The casino pays money equal to your original bet and set odds on your call bet. These odds are:

  • Equal for a pair or high card
  • 2-1 for two pairs
  • 3-1 for 3 of a kind
  • 4-1 for a straight
  • 5-1 for a flush
  • 7-1 for a full house
  • 20-1 for a four of a kind
  • 50-1 for a straight flush
  • 100-1 for a royal flush
