Poker has become globally famous lately, with televised championships and celebrity poker game events. Its popularity, though, stretches back in fact a bit farther than its television ratings. Over the years many variants on the original poker game have been created, including some games that are not in reality poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of the above-mentioned games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely resembling chemin de fer than traditional poker, in that the players wager against the dealer rather than each other. The succeeding hands, are the established poker hands. There is no concealment or different kinds of deceptiveness. In Caribbean stud poker, you are required to ante up prior to the croupier announcing "No further bets." At that point, both you and the casino and of course all of the different gamblers receive 5 cards. Once you have seen your hand and the bank’s 1st card, you must in turn make a call wager or give up. The call bet’s value is akin to your beginning wager, indicating that the risks will have doubled. Abandoning means that your wager goes instantaneously to the house. After the wager is the showdown. If the bank doesn’t have ace/king or better, your wager is given back, including a sum equal to the ante. If the house does have ace/king or better, you win if your hand is greater than the bank’s hand. The house pony’s up cash even with your original bet and controlled expectations on your call wager. These expectations are:

  • Equal for a pair or high card
  • 2-1 for 2 pairs
  • three to one for three of a kind
  • 4-1 for a straight
  • five to one for a flush
  • seven to one for a full house
  • twenty to one for a 4 of a kind
  • fifty to one for a straight flush
  • 100-1 for a royal flush
