Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha 8 or better) is frequently seen as one of the most difficult but well-loved poker games. It is a game that, even more than normal Omaha poker, invites action from every level of players. This is the main reason why a once obscure variation, has expanded in popularity so amazingly.

Omaha 8 or better begins exactly like a normal game of Omaha. Four cards are dealt to every player. A round of wagering follows where gamblers can bet, check, or drop out. 3 cards are dealt out, this is called the flop. One more round of betting happens. Once all the players have either called or folded, a further card is revealed on the turn. a further round of betting ensues and then the river card is revealed. The entrants must attempt to make the strongest high and low five card hands using the board and hole cards.

This is where a few players can get baffled. Contrasted to Hold’em, in which the board can be every player’s hand, in Omaha hi-low the player has to use exactly 3 cards from the board, and precisely 2 hole cards. Not a single card more, not a single card less. Unlike regular Omaha, there are two ways a pot can be won: the "higher hand" or the "lower hand."

A high hand is just how it sounds. It’s the best possible hand out of every player’s, whether that is a straight, flush, full house. It is the identical approach in just about all poker games.

A low hand is more complicated, but really opens up the play. When figuring out a low hand, straights and flushes do not count. A low hand is the worst hand that could be put together, with the lowest being made up of A-2-3-4-5. Because straights and flushes do not count, A-2-3-4-5 is the lowest possible hand. The lower hand is any 5 card hand (unpaired) with an eight and below. The lower hand takes half of the pot, as does the higher hand. When there’s no low hand presented, the high hand takes the entire pot.

While it seems complex at first, following a few hands you will be agile enough to pick up on the base subtleties of the game with ease. Seeing as you have individuals wagering for the low and wagering for the high, and seeing as such a large number of cards are in play, Omaha hi low offers an overwhelming range of betting choices and owing to the fact that you have many players trying for the high hand, as well as several battling for the low. If you prefer a game with a plethora of outs and actions, it is not a waste of your time to participate in Omaha Hi-Lo.
